The artworks from the series “SMYCKA” by Marina Rønnow Honoré are inspired by IKEA’s artificial flowers of the same name. They are made from plastic beads, and the circumference of the artwork glows in the dark after light exposure. This creates an interesting dynamic between the organic motif of flowers, their artificial IKEA replica, and the artist's use of an unnatural medium to reproduce these flower motifs. Honoré wants to highlight the toxicity in flower production and challenge us to reflect upon why we need to have exotic flowers in our homes.
