Emma Sloth

Portrait of danish artist emma sloth in her atelier

Emma Sloth’s (b. 1994, Copenhagen, Denmark) work evolves around spirituality. For her, spirituality is a form of resonance with our surrounding environment, other people, and nature, as well as a longing for community and goodness. She is deeply inspired by the imagery of the past and its pictorial grandeur, symbolizing a time when people based their everyday lives on nature and their belief system. The symbols of the past represent a way of life that is far from how we treat spirituality in the present. Sloth is critical of our relationship with spirituality and its rationalization. She hopes that her work creates space for people to think beyond logic, reflect on their spirituality, and perhaps imagine a different kind of world.
Emma Sloth holds a BA in Visual Communication from the Royal Danish Academy, and has been exhibiting her works on multiple occasions across Denmark, including group shows with A Mon Avis and Kunstsalonen.
