Kaja Meyer says about the work "I grew up in the countryside by the sea and have always been fascinated by the sculptural seaweed heaps that appear after storms. The women are envisioned as from previous generations of my family, explorers and founders; sort of settlers in a fantasy setting. I love world-building in fantasy, the possibility of different ways life and society can emerge. Even though it's fiction, seeing alternatives is motivating and affirming."
