“Ecdysis”, 12 x 21 x 10 cm, Clay, fired and glazed, 2025

“Ecdysis” by Mathilde Staal Borup presents an organic expression that engages our tactile senses through its intriguing textures and forms. Borup draws inspiration from moments of transition, when something sheds its old form to give rise to something new. She describes these transitions as raw and vulnerable states, charged with hope and existing in the tension between disruption and renewal.

The title Ecdysis refers to the natural process of shedding skin. A symbolic act of growth, transformation, and rebirth. It embodies the idea of releasing what once was to become something new.
