“Constructive Deconstruction”, 100 x 120 cm, 2025, Ink on canvas

For “Constructive Destruction” Marlon Bellet was inspired by the never-ending appearance of construction sites in cities.
Bellet states: “The specific event that led to the creation of this work is the renovation of a main road, which was happening near my home. As I came back from the atelier one night, they were in the process of tearing up the asphalt. The sound of destruction and machinery accompanied by an array of flood lights illuminating from all sides gave the scene a theatrical aspect, transforming the hulking machine into a mythical monster devouring its way through the heart of the city. I tried to translate this impression in the creation of the machine shown in the painting and its potential for destruction/construction.”
