“This still early hour”, 70 x 50 cm, 2025, Ink and acrylic on paper

”This still early hour” was exhibited in the group show RESONANS, and the artist states, “The works I am showing in this exhibition are about looking at the world in times of grief. Looking for traces of what has been lost.

"You have gone across the court, further and further, drawing thinner and thinner the thread between us. But you exist somewhere. Something of you remains." (Virginia Woolf, The Waves)

A dear friend told me that flowers are ghosts, or spirits (the German Geist means both) they have their own will power and their emotional life.

The nature around is doesn’t statically exist, it’s not just a beach, it is actively being a beach, being a tree, mud and mist on the marches. I feel nature looking back at me, wanting good things. I felt it earlier, but in grief I feel it stronger, maybe because it is needed with need more urgent.” - Kaja Meyer
